Matching Game Maker

A good matching game uses the exact words your students are learning. Bitsboard lets you build a set of picture cards once and play them as several matching games, from simple picture-to-word matching to memory games.

How to make a matching game

  1. Create a board in the Bitsboard app.
  2. Add cards with a photo, a word, and an optional voice recording.
  3. Choose a game: Match Up, Memory Cards, Photo Touch, or Letter Match.
  4. Adjust settings such as the number of choices, rounds, and audio hints.

Matching games you can make

  • Picture to word for early readers and vocabulary.
  • Word to word for synonyms, opposites, or upper and lower case.
  • Sound to picture for listening and speech therapy.
  • Memory match for working memory and turn-taking in small groups.

Try it with free phonics words

Every phonics page includes free online matching games and a printable worksheet. Start with a word family such as -ab, -un, or -at.
